Due to increased growth, an opportunity currently exists for an experienced Structural Design Checker to join their dedicated design team. Reporting to their Pre-Construction Manager, this role will see you responsible for ensuring the accuracy of design drawings of steel framed strucures prepared for fabrication and installation.
Responsibilities of this position include:
Review and check detailed structural design drawings for accuracy and completeness against project standards and specifications
Ensures all drawings within his/her discipline for assigned projects have been properly checked.
Ensuring compliance with Building Codes, industry standards, and company policies in all actions
Communicates with broader design team, engineers, clients, and other internal stakeholders effectively as required.
Communicates with Pre-construction Manager to ensure accurate and scheduled completion of project drawngs
Identitys design deficiencies and innacurracies and corrects drawings submitted for check.
Resolving technical queries and problem solving
Ideal candidates will possess:
Previous 3-5 years experience in a similar role
Relevant formal qualifications in Engineering or Drafting (Preferred)
Possess a strong knowledge of structural steel design drafting
An understanding of Construction programs, standards and complaince
Working knowledge of 3D design software (AUTO CAD or Tekla)
A critical eye for detail and high levels of accuracy
Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders
Sense of urgency & ability to deliver to fast timelines
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ideal candidates will be either based locally or be willing to relocate to regional NSW for this role however, applications are welcome from suitably experienced individuals who are willing and able to work 2-3 days per week at the companies Bathurst facility and from Sydney the remainder of the week. We are also interested in speaking with Semi-Retired Construction Professionals who are computer literate and willing to learn and work with Design Software.
