About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Graduate Environmental Scientist / Engineer, to join our Townsville team. You will work on demolition, environmental remediation and hazardous waste removal projects ranging from small-scale inner-city developments to large complex site remediation projects.

This role would ideally suit a Graduate Environmental Scientist or Engineer (or soon to be graduate, in their last year of study), willing to learn from the ground up to achieve long term career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the project team in order to ensure compliance with Client and McMahon Services' processes
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders including site visits to give technical advice and ensure projects run in accordance with relevant legislation
  • Providing support to meet project budget and time requirements
  • Organising and coordinating suppliers and contractors
  • Operational administrative duties including the use of Pronto software for cost tracking
  • Assisting with the compiling of tender submissions including writing methodologies and obtaining quotes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary graduate or currently undertaking a degree in environmental engineering/science or equivalent
  • Proficient abilities in Microsoft Office is essential
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to cope with urgency, efficiency, assign work priorities and work in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to grasp new concepts very quickly, be adaptable and flexible
  • Work in a wide range of environments from metropolitan sites to remote outback communities
  • Sound understanding of scientific principles and relevant technologies
  • Problem solving and innovation as an individual and as part of a team
  • Ability to follow directions, be a team player and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to travel both intra- and interstate as required
  • Valid manual drivers' licence
  • Training will be provided as required
  • Must have Rights to Work in Australia and pass a Police Check.
