Full Time Gardener / Horticulturist

Elements of Toronto is a friendly Independent Over 55s Registered Retirement Village operating in the heart of Lake Macquarie. 

Currently under construction, Elements has three stages built and operating with another three stages to follow with a full completion in 2022.

We have an exciting position that will require a gardener / horticulturist to attend and maintain our gardens here at Elements as well as a synthetic bowling green and gardens to maintain at Toronto Workers Club. You will report directly to the Village Manager and together, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of all general and gardening work.

This position is made for a person who can work autonomously with a can do attitude.  This job requires you to be proactive and productive. We envisage a typical week will involve basic gardening that will consist of lawn mowing, edging, brush cutting, pruning hedges and trees and application of herbicides and insecticides, you will be required to use basic machinery. You will require a creative flair and vision as some jobs will require you to assist with landscape implementation with the assistance of your Manager.

This role may include minor maintenance items including replacing of light globes etc

A vehicle is available on site to utilise. General knowledge of WHS would be required for this position as safety is our number one priority for our staff and customers.

Base salary starting at $55,000.00 that can be negotiable on qualifications and skill sets.

 

What you will need:

Physically fit

Class C drivers licence or above

Cert 3 in Horticulture desirable or equivalent

First Aid Certificate (or willing to gain one)

Previous gardening / landscaping experience

General handyman would be an advantage

Attention to detail / methodical / time management skills

Ability to work unsupervised and part of a team

Reliable / proactive and friendly

Willing to learn new skills

Be able to plan around our Residents and the needs of the business

Assist with maintenance plans and associated costings

A soft manner as you will be dealing with Residents.
