Client Pardoo Beef Corporation is an integrated producer, processor and marketer of high-quality beef products for domestic consumption and export. The company is establishing an innovative, world class beef production operation in the Pilbara and Kimberley areas of North Western Australia by breeding and raising cattle with superior genetics. The cattle are grown using supplementary feeding programs involving irrigated cropping of tropical pastures and maize.
Role A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Irrigation Manager reporting directly to the Station Operations Manager. The position will require hands-on operations and management of day-to-day irrigation activities, as well as supervising and training a team of six staff involved in the cropping of maize and tropical pastures together with silage and hay production.
Assist the Station Operations Manager to oversee the annual cropping and pasture production and pivot irrigation plan
Manage all seasonal cropping activities and supervise staff and contractors
Plan and implement best practice processes for efficient irrigation cropping programs
Maintain accurate and up-to-date farm records
Prepare monthly reports for management
Ensure a safe work environment
Previous experience in hands-on leadership in an irrigated cropping enterprise
Mechanical aptitude and skills in general maintenance
The ability to maintain accurate records and write reports
Proficiency in MS Office and digital farm management software
An understanding of livestock and pasture management would be an advantage but is not essential
Location The role is located 160 km east of Port Hedland, Western Australia
