Management Accountant

Moorvale Earthmoving is a Mackay based family business, providing mining and earthmoving services in the Bowen Basin region. The business commenced in 2007 and has achieved good growth, enabled by its service excellence and a strong client base. 

Position

We are seeking an experienced accountant with strong mining experience to join the finance team. The role offers a great opportunity to become an integral part of a team focused on delivering growth and improvement initiatives, while undertaking the usual financial management tasks. The core finance team is 5 people plus several project administrators 

The successful candidate will be passionate and committed to achieving outcomes for stakeholders and the business owners. We will consider applicants to work from either Mackay or Brisbane, however you may need to travel from time to time. The role reports to the Group CFO with a level of autonomy commensurate with your capability 

Role 

The role will include the following:

  • Supervise team members with data entry and the maintaining our management accounts
  • Ensure accurate job costing is maintained
  • Coordinate and manage the timely completion of month end and monthly reports
  • Analysis of financial performance and variance interrogation
  • Analysis of project performance and variance interrogation
  • Preparation and maintenance of Group forecasts and budgets 
  • Planning for capital needs in line with forecasts and group strategies
  • Cash flow management including receivables collection
  • Continually review and refine financial management processes
  • Prepare regular reports for the Groups financiers

Experience and Qualifications

  • Accounting qualification essential 
  • Over 5 years experience in the mining industry
  • Over 5 years experience of working with ERP systems
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, including developing and monitoring forecasts, financial reporting, robust analysis of financial performance and liaising with stakeholders 
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to develop efficient and effective processes and manage compliance
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint
  • A track record in attention to detail and maintaining high standards
