About the Property, Procurement & Assets Department
This department is part of our Customer & Corporate Services Division, and is responsible for the City's end-to-end procurement and contract management functions, including our diverse buildings portfolio, facilities maintenance, lease management, property acquisitions and disposals, fleet management and the procurement function.
About the Role
This role provides support to the Coordinator of Contracts and Purchasing in the provision of policy and procedural development ensuring Council’s tendering and procurement processes accord with probity and legislative requirements. The position is responsible for effectively managing the calling and evaluation of complex tenders and quotations in line with industry best practice and organisational policies and procedures requirements.
Key aspects of this role include –
- Ensuring that tendering and contracting undertaken by Council, complies with probity principles, legislation and Council policy and procedures.
- Managing the calling and evaluation of complex tenders and quotations
- Assisting in the allocation of work priorities to meet Unit workload and corporate objectives.
- Providing advice and assistance to staff involved in sourcing quotations and ensuring they accord with Council’s management procedures and guidelines to minimise Council’s contract liabilities.
This role requires an individual with skills and proficiency in the preparation and supervision of tenders and tender specifications. You have excellent negotiation skills, particularly in pre-contract negotiations, extensive knowledge of the purchasing, public tendering and competition processes. A tertiary degree in a related field is desirable but not essential.
