Head of Fund Accounting

Strong Growth Agenda, Drive strategy and operational Excellence, Engage and influence Board and ELT.Our client is a leading provider of superannuation and other key products and services to members and employers across Australia. Due to a renewed strategy, our client is seeking a key finance professional to provide strategic and financial leadership and oversight for these funds.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will drive growth and strategic initiatives, provide subject matter expertise to the Board and ELT and lead a team to ensure operational excellence with respect to all Fund Accounting matters. You will act as a point of contact with key external relationships, including government and regulatory bodies.
Essentially you will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversight of all Fund accounting procedures, records and reconciliations
  • Attendance at Board/Committee meetings to inform on preparation of financial statements, comment on internal and external audit findings and analyse budget formulation and progress 
  • Preparation of management reporting for the Fund and consolidated entity encompassing budgeting and analysis of fund dynamics
  • Formal approval of all Fund financial information appearing in external communications and publications
  • Engagement with regulators to ensure compliance with Prudential Standards and regulatory reporting
  • Management of the unit pricing framework to ensure member equity and to facilitate operational efficiency across the process
  • Ensuring compliance with the Fund Unit Pricing Policy and Unit Pricing procedures
  • Observe industry/regulatory trends and developments so as to achieve ongoing unit pricing best practice
  • Formulation and presentation to the Board of proposed new policy and policy amendments
  • Ensuring all policy relating to Fund financial activities meets the requirements of APRA Prudential Standards and other regulatory requirements 
  • Management of ad-hoc projects that arise relating to the Fund’s operations 
  • Lead a small team in achieving its delegated objectives
  • Provide technical and developmental guidance to junior reports

The highly-desired background to be successful in this role includes the following key characteristics:

  • Relevant tertiary and post tertiary qualifications including CA or CPA equivalent;
  • 10-15 years experience including strong exposure to Financial management and reporting / Audit / Taxation / Superannuation or similar experience. 
  • Demonstrated high level communication and presentation skills, with strong accounting / numerical / analytical / problem solving 
  • Experience and ability to influence the business decisions of Senior Leaders
  • Member focused / Collaborative / Strategic thinker / Solution focused
