Project Development Engineer

12 month contract, Coordinate complex projects from concept through to install, HV substations and/or HV transmission line projects.

Join a respected electricity transmission operator that is responsible for a high voltage electricity transmission network. They are the central link in the electricity supply chain, transporting high voltage electricity from the generators to the electricity distribution networks. With the acknowledgment of additional investment into their infrastructure has led to the requirement of an experienced Project Development Engineer to join their Network Planning and Operations team.
 
Reporting into the Asset Development Manager, while based in their Sydney CBD office, you will coordinate feasibility studies while also project managing the design preparation during the development phase of a number of transmission projects.
 
Your key accountabilities include:

  • Manage the execution of the planning and development phase of the project to achieve completion within agreed budget, time and accepted quality standards
  • Identify procurement requirements and initiate procurement of long lead items and ensure a bill of materials is completed for handover
  • Identify outage requirements for the projects and schedule these in the appropriate outage management system
  • Prepare technical Scope definition report that includes the scope of work and list drawings for construction, conceptual designs.
  • Prepare option feasibility studies ensuring that option scope, cost, program, environment and risks are considered.
  • Monitor and report to management on project progress, cost and performance against program and budget targets

 
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification at degree level in an appropriate engineering discipline
  • Experience in project management of engineering projects including coordination of design, environment, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Experience in the development of detailed project schedules and cost estimates for projects
  • Well-developed interpersonal, report writing and business reporting skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines, which govern safety, engineering design, environmental assessment for the implementation of engineering projects
