Waagner-Biro Austria Stage Systems is currently searching to fill a Site Manager position located in Melbourne. The Site Manager will work in all areas involving mechanical engineering.
The tasks of this role include the following:
Overall responsibility for installation works on-site - ensuring quality, schedule, safety and cost
Supports the set-up and preparation of work sites
Coordination, monitoring and supervision of all on-site works and services contracted to WB Stage.
Pro-active communication with client, partners, authorities, consultants, sub-contractors, other contractors regarding site and project related matters
Coordination with sub-contractors, clients, main contractors (or similar) and other third parties which execute works on-site
Reporting to and coordination with Project Manager on all site specific topics
Management of all WB Stage related human resources on-site
Responsibility for compliance of all WB Stage related personnel and sub-contractors and their workers with the Work Health and Safety measures defined in the site safety plan
Environmental management and compliance with all relevant environmental requirements
Monitoring, reporting and adjusting the installation schedule
Management of work equipment, personal protective equipment, storage and welfare facilities
Site related contract management and claim management
Quality Assurance: Coordination, management and documentation of all measures defined in the quality plan
Over-all responsibility for commissioning, (load) testing, third party approval and client approval
Management of non-conformities
Close site after final hand-over to client
Maintain Petty Cash for on-site purchasing
Coordination of deliveries to site and on-site
Local purchasing of equipment and services
Management of human resources on-site (including: Supervisors Mechanical and Electrical, Site Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, Control Systems Engineer)
Purchasing and hiring of equipment, consumables using site petty cash
Negotiations with client regarding schedule, progress and quality of erection / installation, final inspection; claims for additional costs in agreement with project management
Skills and experience required for the position:
Mechanical engineering background with commercial experience
At least 5 years' experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Experience in stage engineering and relevant training in special stage machinery is a plus.
At least 3 years experience as Site Manager or Project Manager at complex international projects in the field of mechanical engineering
Experience with working on supplier side, reporting to general contractor preferred
Fluent English and German is a must, any other language is a plus
Entrepreneurial and cosmopolitan character, team player with well- developed communication skills
Structured working style
Ability to design a site safety plan and work method statements
Ability to read, interpret technical drawings, MS Office
Strong communication and negotiation skills
As regular oral and written communication with head office in Vienna will be required, an application that demonstrates the applicant's proficiency in German is sought.
