Transport for NSW is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other non-service delivery functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, rail, ferry, light rail, point to point, regional air, cycling and walking.
We focus on improving the customer experience and contract public and private operators to deliver customer-focused transport services on our behalf.
We also lead the procurement of transport infrastructure and oversee delivery through project delivery offices and industry delivery partners.

The Precincts and Urban Design team are the champions for high quality architecture and urban design within Transport for NSW. We provide architectural and urban design expertise and advice to project teams driving design excellence on transport projects by collaboration, advocacy and thought leadership. We are customer advocates ensuring project design is place-based and people-focused.
The team has elevated design quality on transport projects as evidenced by accolades such as a NSW Architecture Award for Wynyard Walk, the Premiers Award for Wynyard Station Upgrade and the NSW Planning Institute Great Place Award for Oatley Station Upgrade in 2017 and the commendation for Public Architecture for Barangaroo Ferry Hub at the 2018 NSW Architecture Awards.
We are seeking a Senior Manager- Urban Design, to collaborate in the revitalisation of Sydneys Central Precinct, which is currently in the planning phase. The Central Precinct Renewal is a major urban renewal program of 24 hectares of government-owned land in and around the Central Station transport interchange, one of Sydneys most connected transport infrastructure sites and will create a new place for business and the community.
Central Precinct will be a vibrant and exciting place that unites a world-class transport interchange with innovative and diverse businesses and high-quality public spaces. It will embrace design, sustainability and connectivity, celebrate its unique built form and social and cultural heritage and become a centre for the jobs of the future and economic growth.
You are an innovative thinker with a detailed design eye and have the ability to synthesise project desirables and customer needs to create great places. You are a trusted advisor, highly experienced design manager and an advocate for good design in the built environment. You are collaborative and agile, possessing expert stakeholder management and communication skills.
Previous design management experience with complex urban renewal projects which integrate transport infrastructure is essential. Experience in projects with heritage and public buildings will also be highly regarded.
Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or relevant discipline is a requirement.

This is a Transport Senior Service role. An attractive total remuneration package between $172,819 $192,578, will be determined with the successful candidate.
