We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Engineer Track to be a part of the Engineering System Integrity team within Sydney Trains. This position assists in providing technical advice and expertise relating to Track Assurance and Design to Sydney Trains and Sydney Trains clients, and the production of track designs including multi-discipline design projects in Sydney Trains.

Reporting to the Principal Track Design Engineer, you will be involved in the production of track engineering designs and associated documentation. You will liaise with track engineering team members to establish a shared understanding of design scope, budget, time constraints, success indicators, relevant codes and standards, and perform design tasks accordingly.
You may be required to assist team members in the provision of advice and services to stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality, timely and cost effective infrastructure solutions; and participate in technical investigations and the preparation of draft technical reports.
You will report to the Principal Engineer on the status of projects, identify issues encountered, communicate effectively and work collaboratively to provide a satisfactory outcome.

What will it take
To be successful in the role:
- You will have Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience
- Your background in rail, construction, or similar industries has prepared you to contribute to design projects and track infrastructure technical assessments
- Experience in engineering software eg. CAD, GIS and database management
- Having relevant design experience would be ideal, an acceptable alternative would be someone with civil/survey drafting skills.
