Primary purpose of position
This is an opportunity to actively work and provide technical expertise to research projects.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the primary function of the Program Director (PD) is to provide strategic direction and develop, in conjunction with Mining3 members, long term research initiatives consistent with the vision and strategy of Mining3.
The PD will be responsible for the overall successful planning and execution of research projects within their program, including assessing and determining the direction and quality of the research, and provide input and engagement in its future commercial integration, when appropriate.
This position is located at Pinjarra Hills.
The position description provides a detailed suite of accountabilities. The role takes on three key areas of responsibility:
- Technical Contribution. This key accountability will expect high quality research and strategic direction in line with Mining3 research strategy, applying technology and innovation to advance the mining industry.
- Engagement. You will liaise with industry members and relevant external participants, as well as Project Leaders to build relationships and develop business.
- Leadership. Manage budgets and resources, providing scientific leadership, coaching and mentoring while part of the Mining3 management team.
Applicants require postgraduate qualifications along with extensive experience in Engineering, in an area relevant to the operations of Mining3. You should demonstrate a broad understanding (and experience) in mine site operations, with a proven track record in leading research that includes developing and leading strategy, developing innovative research programs, shaping organisational culture and driving high performance.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience in effective strategic planning, time management skills and a proven ability to manage and motivate diverse teams, to focus on designing solutions to critical challenges and opportunities in the mining industry. You should have developed strong work networks, and be able to demonstrate accomplished communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and consult, prepare well written submissions and reports, negotiate complex issues, manage change and communicate with diverse groups.

This is a full time, Brisbane based, fixed term 12-month appointment, with the possibility of extension.
