The opportunity

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Design Delivery Manager to be part of Engineering System Integrity team within Sydney Trains. The Senior Design Delivery Manager is responsible for leading a team, tasked with project managing the end-to-end project design life cycle. This role is responsible for delivering designs on a portfolio of single or multi-disciplinary programs and/or projects.

The Senior Design Delivery Manager is accountable for the delivery of For Construction documentation on all Engineering projects, including the design component of the annual program of works and other special projects in the portfolio including Rolling Stock and Control Systems. The position must ensure scope, cost, schedule, risk and quality are met and reported regularly.

Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, Engineering Special Projects you will oversee the Engineerings critical interface function ensuring project/program line of sight for stakeholders while fostering integration, commerciality and innovation through the engineering process.

Senior Design Delivery Manager is accountable for Managing the delivery of designs and engineering assurance of external projects in accordance with an agreed program, using internal and external resources.

You will lead the team in the development of Design Briefs with specific attention to site specific conditions, project integration and inter-disciplinary requirements.

What will it take

  • Tertiary qualifications (Degree) in engineering, project management or relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in rail environment will be highly desirable with exposure to managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiatives, prioritise and deliver solutions in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management and contract administration.
  • High level of PC literacy, including MS Office suite and Primavera / MS Project.
