Grounds Officer Carmichael College (Interseed Ltd), Morayfield, Queensland
Carmichael College is an independent interdenominational school committed to excellence of teaching and learning through which children develop their unique abilities in a secure, supportive and Christian learning environment. The service is co-located with Carmichael Early Childhood Centre, Creekside Caf and Creekside Community Church.
The Grounds Officer will provide grounds and gardens maintenance duties (within scope of practice) across the Carmichael campus. Duties will include establishing and completing regular maintenance schedules, maintenance and development of lawns/ turf, gardens and treescapes and management of weeds and pests and providing advice to campus managers in relation to grounds maintenance and development matters.
Duties and responsibilities

General daily duties are varied and include (but are not limited to):
To meet Management requests and work within time-frame expectations.
Reliable completion of established routines with minimal supervision.
Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.
Carry out heavy grounds tasks and projects.
Stock and maintain product supplies as required.
Operate vehicles and other powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, whipper snippers, blowers, electric clippers and pruning saws.
Installing, repairing and maintaining garden and turf irrigation systems.
Weeding, pruning, planting and fertilizing gardens, trees, shrubs and lawns.
Monitoring and safely eradicating pest using appropriate methods including the safe use of insecticide and herbicides.
Maintaining and repairing (if able) grounds equipment.
Development and construction of new grounds facilities, gardens, access ways and drainage needs.
Assist with general maintenance, painting, deliveries and collections (internal and external) as requested.
Assist with minor repairs to the school's property and equipment.
Assist with the set up and dismantling of tents and equipment for carnivals, fetes and other events.
Undertake any other duties as requested by the Principal and/or Principal's Delegate. This may include operation of the school's security system when commencing/finishing a shift.
Perform Carpark duties as rostered.
Support the ministry and philosophy of Carmichael College, Creekside Community Church, Interseed and broader ministries.
Work within a team environment demonstrating a Christian commitment to staff / student / parent / contractor relationships.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Proven knowledge and experience in the safe use of fertilisers, pesticides and weed killing solutions.
Proven knowledge and experience in plant selection, propagation and maintenance, in particular plant suitability for educational environments and differing soil types.
Have good health and fitness and the ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery.
Demonstrated high level of integrity and confidentiality.
NZ or Australia permanent resident or citizen.
Have the ability to communicate effectively and function effectively as both an individual and a member of a team.
Is reliable and punctual with dedicated professionalism to job and duties.
Ability to work within legislation, industry standards and Campus policy and procedures.
A committed Christian with a servant heart and vibrant Christian faith, exercising regular Christian service.
A Certificate III in Horticulture or proven experience in the horticultural industry.
1+ experience in similar role including the use of associated plant and equipment.
Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
Current manual driver's licence.
Current Licence for Operations of Skid Steer Machinery (Bobcat Licence).
Current Commercial Application of Chemicals Licence.
Current Chainsaw Licence.
Current First Aid/ CPR.
Confidence/ previous experience using IT systems and electronic equipment.
Previous experience in computerised irrigation, security and maintenance management systems.
Days Monday to Friday
Hours 7.6 hours/ day (6:00AM to 2:06PM or as agreed with site management)
