Bindaree Food Group (BFG) is a vertically integrated supply chain business delivering global meat solutions both domestically and internationally and has solidified its position as a prominent leader in the Australian meat industry.  

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager who will align to our Mission Statement and Values, is people and customer focussed, and has a strong background in managing operations across a food processing facility. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Executive Bindaree Food Solutions and will manage the overall day to day operations, focussing on effective and successful management of labour, productivity, quality, safety and financial accountability.  

The Bindaree Food Solutions processing facility is dedicated to the production of a range of value added meat / protein based products for the retail supermarket industry, and is ideally located in Burleigh Heads, just 11klm south of Surfers Paradise and 11klm north of the Gold Coast Airport.

Key objectives of this role include:

  • Leading and supporting the production team, including the Production, Maintenance and Distribution areas;
  • Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day to day operations to exceed our customers expectations, and ensuring the facility is competitive;
  • Compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements the business operates under including WHS, Quality, Environmental and HR Systems;
  • Production output, product quality and on-time shipping;
  • Plant manning and labour cost management as per budget;
  • Ensure appropriate training is in place to meet skilled manning requirements;
  • Allocate resources effectively and ensure efficient utilisation to achieve production objectives;
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions;
  • Review all serious incident reports to ensure regulatory bodies and customers are informed and remedial action has been instituted;
  • Collect and analyse data to find places of waste or overtime;
  • Increase production while minimising un-necessary costs and maintaining current quality standards;
  • Manage Internal and external relationships;
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and ongoing growth/expansion, and provide a clear sense of direction and focus;
  • Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts;
  • Maintain positive industrial relations across the site and make decisions in line with relevant legislation that does not compromise the Company;
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Senior Executive Bindaree Food Solutions.

Essential qualifications and additional requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in a production environment;
  • Experience in management within FMCG manufacturing;
  • A good understanding of regulatory standards, HACCP and GMP Principles;
  • Previous experience around control of P&L and budgets mandatory;
  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for details particularly auditing and reporting;
  • Strong leadership and management qualities;
  • Evidence of ability to build strong teams and excellent communication skills.
