Mechanical Engineers (EOI)

Central Perth city location, Work with a market leading Engineering organisation, Stable ongoing work in major brownfields mining/ oil & gas projects.

About the Role

Our clients are global market leading Engineering organisations, that are seeking various levels of Mechanical Engineers to work on their end clients brownfields oil & gas and mining projects. This role will initially be based in their Perth city office, on an initial 12 months contract. This role offers a competitive remuneration, and the chosen candidate will play a vital part in the success of the mechanical engineering team.  

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Providing detailed mechanical engineering support Fitness For Service assessment, Finite Element Analysis, Modelling, and defect elimination.
  • Advise and consult with Operations management on assigned mechanical engineering issues.  Design and deliver solutions to the facilities team that will require focal point between site and office management.
  • Provide specialized technical support for the design, modifications and upgrades associated with piping, pressure vessel, heat exchangers, valves and special piping items.
  • Design of on-line repair solutions Composite wraps, bolted enclosures, welded sleeves, and line-stops.
  • Ensure safe and consistent application of National and International Codes & Standards e.g. ASME VIII, ASME B31.3 etc and Engineering Technical Practices.
  • Capable of carrying out technical bid evaluations for packaged equipment to ensure compliance with equipment specifications
  • Responsible for developing basic and detail engineering designs for brownfield projects. Including IFC drawings and Constructability reviews.
  • Familiar with welding techniques and in-service welding
  • Responsible for carrying out structural stress analysis and support systems assessments.
  • Capable of completing complex fitness for service assessment following rigorous analysis (as per API 579 / ASME Div II part 5) for pressure containment equipment.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Mechanical engineering degree.
  • 5 -15 years experience in mechanical engineering
  • Experience in brownfield facilities environment, preferably as a maintenance, facilities, or site engineer.
  • Knowledge through direct experience of mechanical equipment found in oil and gas processing facilities including pressure vessels, valves.
  • Fully familiar with regulations and use of standards (ASME, API. NACE, AS etc).
