Fixed Plant Mechanical Supervisor

We have an opportunity for a dynamic, safe, positive, customer driven and locally based, Mechanical Supervisor to join our innovative team.  This role is responsible for providing essential mechanical leadership and technical guidance to the onsite mechanical teams.  This role is critical in maintaining and fostering a working environment which prompts a high level of health and safety and delivers precise solutions that improve plant reliability for our valued clients.

Ordinarily this will be a day shift Monday to Friday role however you may be required to work occasionally on a Saturdays or weekends, or travel when required to meet the needs of our valued customers.


  • A trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter with preventative maintenance and a minimum of 10 years fault-finding experience in a heavy industrial industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a mechanical crew at fixed plant work sites.
  • Able to communicate with all levels of stakeholder, in a fast paced environment.
  • Highest commitment to health and safety and confident in having safety discussions with all stakeholders.
  • Must be confident with the refurbishment and repair of high tolerance rotating equipment

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead all work in a safe manner ensuring the safety and well-being of you and your team including client representatives and visitors.
  • Prioritise work according to business requirements ensuring resources are available and used in a manner that promotes the greatest return on safety and production
  • Ensure team rosters are managed with adequate coverage on site at all times
  • Build and maintain relationships with all parties including fostering a culture of inclusion, responsiveness, honesty and accountability
  • Actively seek out and contribute to maintenance improvement opportunities and initiatives
  • Assign daily work tasks and manage team productivity
  • Act as first point of escalation for any issues within the team
  • Ensure all reporting is carried out in an efficient and effective manner including quality control processes.


Key individual requirements:

  • Trade qualifications Fitter & Turner
  • Working at Heights & Confined Space tickets
  • Certificate in Front Line Management (FLM) / Project Management highly regarded
  • Strong technical understanding of mineral processing plants
  • Demonstrated experience in a lead or supervisor role managing a group of trades
  • Experience in maintenance of large-scale mining and mineral processing projects and knowledge of processing plant equipment
  • Previous experience facilitating problem solving and root cause analysis investigations
  • Display initiative and have the ability to work independently and deliver results
  • Show commitment to high quality workmanship and customer service
  • Pass a pre-employment medical which includes drug & alcohol testing
  • Computer literacy with excellent reporting and documentation skills


The role will commence permanent after an initial probation period. Training opportunities will be available once a probation period is completed.

 An immediate start is on offer pending successful interview and drug and alcohol & pre-employment.
