Trainer /Assessor - Apprenticeships

Permanent Perth based role (no FIFO or site visits required), AM and PM rosters on a 4:4:4 rotation, Excellent remuneration and access to performance bonus awards.My Client has an outstanding opportunity for highly skilled and qualified Trainer / Assessors to join them as they develop an innovative program of apprentice training. To be considered for this position you MUST be a qualified trade person and have significant experience gained in the mining or heavy industry sector.

Overview
The company aims to build a skilled workforce of competent tradespeople specifically in the following fields:

• Heavy Fixed Plant
• Light Vehicles
• Fabrication
• Auto Electrics
• Diesel Fitter


Your role will be to:

  • Support, develop and maintain the competency, skills and training of apprentices
  • Liaise closely with Training Superintendents, Specialist Apprenticeship Trainers and Registered Training Organisations to understand and comply with the training & competency requirements and standards
  • Determine training & assessment requirements for each apprenticeship and traineeship
  • Implement training & assessment tools to verify and assess the apprentice’s / trainees competency levels
  • Work with the Training Coordinator to ensure all records are managed and systems are kept up to date with progress and records of completion

Your Skills and Experience:
Required:

  • Strong experience and background in working in an operational technical environment within mining or heavy industry
  • Trade qualifications in relevant Maintenance trade
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment

Desired:

  • A continuous improvement focus that identifies opportunities for improving processes, creating efficiencies and capability improvement
  • Comprehensive understanding of VET legislative and internal compliance requirements
  • Exposure to audit processes and governance frameworks

  • Diversity of thought and the willingness to lead and implement change, as well as influence, coach and model Company values and behaviours
  • Ability to train/assess a wide variety of learning styles and cater for language, literacy & numeracy requirements as well as other learning needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships across a range of team members and stakeholders
