Training Supervisors - Apprenticeship Program

Permanent Perth based role (no FIFO or site visits required), AM and PM rosters on a 4:4:4 rotation, Excellent remuneration and potential to achieve performance bonus awards.My Mining Client needs proven leaders and supervisors to progress and motivate its team of in-house trainers / assessors and trainees undertaking a program of apprentice training.

The company aims to build a skilled workforce for the future; specifically, competent tradespeople in the following fields; Heavy Fixed Plant, Light Vehicles, Fabrication, Auto Electrics and Diesel. It has developed an innovative training program and seeks the advanced skills and abilities of supervisors to ensure standards, programs and schedules are maintained and that the team of trainers/assessors and trainees are monitored and supported.

Your role:
Reporting to the Training Superintendents, your role will be to:

  • Work closely with the Training management team to ensure the execution and delivery of the training plans are met
  • Assist with training implementation priorities and strategies
  • Manage personnel and resources being available across each shift
  • Be actively involved in ensuring the relevance, quality and improvement of the Training Department resources and personnel are monitored and supported
  • Review training targets (schedules and competencies) and technical training requirements
  • Actively communicate with and support trainer / assessors to ensure training targets and measureable competencies are understood, measured and achieved
  • Support and develop each trainer / assessor team member and identify individual professional development needs

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Strong supervisory experience within a mobile plant technical environment in a mining or heavy industry sector
  • Relevant trade background
  • Previous experience in a trainer/assessor role
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40116) or above


  • Sound computer skills
  • A continuous improvement focus that identifies opportunities for improving processes, creating efficiencies and capability improvement
  • Comprehensive understanding of VET legislative and internal compliance requirements
  • Exposure to audit processes and governance frameworks

  • Strong initiative and practical problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across a range of teams
