Transport for NSW is delivering a once-in-a-century investment in new infrastructure and services, including Sydney Metro. The first line (Sydney Metro Northwest) of this new fully automated railway opened in 2019 and by 2024 will deliver 31 metro stations and more than 66km of metro rail. Planning is also underway for future lines which will shape the way Australias largest city travels, making Sydney Metro the biggest public transport project in the nations history.
Reporting to the Associate Director Environment, the purpose of this role is to provide high level specialist environmental management for Sydney Metro by leading a team to obtain planning approvals, procure services, monitor, influence and report on environmental performance in accordance with relevant approvals, contract requirements, legislation, systems and processes, and best practice.
What you will be involved in:
Providing high level environment management advice and recommendations on project environmental issues including operation of the environment management system.
Ensuring environment and relevant sustainability principles are implemented during the construction of projects.
Collaborating with project environment management representatives in relation to the monitoring and reporting of environment management plans.
Identify environment risks and issues for projects and interdependencies across multiple programs of work, and recommend appropriate risk management strategies and interventions to minimise risk.
Review and provide comment upon construction contractors environment management plans, reports, and other strategies relating to Sydney Metro.
You are an experienced leader and manager who has a proven track record of delivering successful environment planning outcomes across areas such as acoustics, flora & fauna, soil & contamination and heritage, all areas of environmental management, planning approvals, procurement and contract management.
To succeed in this role you will need;
A Tertiary qualification in an environmental, natural resource, planning, environmental engineering or similar discipline, or equivalent experience
Proven ability to deliver quality environmental management services to support large scale road, rail or civil infrastructure projects
Experience with and understanding of the legislation, policy, processes and practices involved in planning approvals, environmental impact assessment, environmental management and sustainability for delivering major infrastructure projects
To be successful, you will have a successful track record in environmental management delivery.
