Geotechnical Engineer/ Engineering Geologist

My client is a Hobart based consultancy who partner with leading architects and developers from around Australia to deliver structural, civil and hydraulic engineering projects in various sectors. They are looking to bring on a Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to bolster their team.

The Role:

  • Work independently under guidance from the management team and other senior members.
  • Work on projects related to subdivisions and land development, residential construction, low-rise buildings, and commercial and educational developments.
  • Carry out your own client liaison, project scheduling and management of outcomes.
  • Conduct field work, laboratory testing and analysis in accordance with Australian Standards.
  • Provide onsite supervision and advice to clients and contractors including earthworks verification.

Opportunities:

  • Manage operational aspects of the department including budgets, targets, clients, and equipment.
  • Maintain the existing long-term client base and seek new relationships.
  • Work with the management team on department strategy and broadening the range of services provided.

To apply for this role, you must have:

  • Previous experience in Australia within soil testing, analysis and reporting – experience in geotechnical investigations and reporting will be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience within the geotechnical/civil engineering sectors.
  • Bachelors degree accredited by Engineers Australia in engineering or science.
  • A willingness to take ownership of the department and be a part of its future strategic development.
