Mitchell Services (MSV) is a leading provider of drilling services to the global exploration, mining and energy industries.

It’s an exciting time for our business and due to recent growth within our Business, an opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and experienced Purchasing Officer to join our Supply team. The role will service the day to day operations of the Maintenance function working in collaboration with the Maintenance Managers for our Surface & Underground Divisions.

 

The successful candidate will work a Monday to Friday roster based at our Head Office in Seventeen Mile Rocks.

The key job tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Daily purchasing duties.
  • Proactively participating in planning of weekly and monthly maintenance activities.
  • Ensure adequate planning to allow efficient and cost-effective purchase and delivery of supplies, spares, services, equipment and consumables.
  • Provide a detailed report of purchasing activities weekly and monthly, which includes materials purchased, codes, cost and trend analysis, and recommendations for improvement.
  • No drilling operation is delayed due a preventable purchasing or freight event.
  • Timely, consistent and accurate internal coding, processing of requisitions, release of purchase orders and receipting
  • Utilisation of purchasing and supply systems for stock control, quality assurance, distribution, cost control, and vendor contracts.
  • Efficient, accurate, reliable movement of stock and supplies
  • Maintain and update Pronto and purchasing system.

Skills and experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance purchasing role
  • Heavy truck, trailer and light vehicle experience (essential)
  • Previous experience in drilling maintenance (preferred)
  • Experience in the Pronto database (highly regarded)
  • Qualifications in purchasing/warehousing (preferred)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong ability to organise and manage competing demands and priorities
  • Experience with Automated Invoice Matching (preferred)
  • Forklift ticket (preferred)
