Tomingley Gold Mine, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is located adjacent to the village of Tomingley approximately 40 kms south of Narromine. The underground operation consists of multiple ore bodies and utilises long hole open stoping mining using a combination of modified AVOCA and CRF backfill to produce around 575,000 tpa of ore once steady state mining occurs.
The Company has an aggressive exploration programme in the Tomingley/Peak Hill area and very positive drilling results at both Tomingley and the near mine area are providing optimism for a longer term mine life.
The Company employs its own underground workforce and the key mining equipment consists of Sandvik DD420 Jumbos, Sandvik 7-7V production drills, CAT 2900 boggers and CAT AD55B trucks.
With the growth of our operation we are seeking to appoint an Underground Training Coordinator to play a key role in the training and development of the workforce with the key responsibilities including:
- ensuring Training Needs Analysis is current for all employees
- implementing a competency-based training and assessment programme
- maintaining relevant standards and operating procedures
- providing the on the job training required to individuals
- assist the Superintendents and Supervisors to assess employees competencies.
Tomingley Gold Mine is a residential operation with the existing workforce currently being skilled and experienced. It is expected that there will be green recruits from the local area recruited for entry level roles in trucking and services and there is a strong focus on very quickly developing the skills and competencies of these employees joining the industry.
The position requires an individual who has a strong interest and commitment to training and very good all-round mining skills. This is not a role for an office bound person who focuses on administration it is a role for an enthusiastic individual who instructs employees on the job keen to upskill and genuinely develop people.
The appointee must be a well experienced underground miner or supervisor, be an effective trainer and hold a Certificate IV Assessment and Workplace Training.
