Our client is an independent, Australian owned petrol and convenience company which offers customers premium quality fuels and competitive pricing Australia-wide. We were established in 1993 with the opening of a chain of service stations/convenience stores in South Australia. It expanded operations into Victoria, and over the next two years built networks in New South Wales, ACT and Queensland.

Responsibilities
 
The Senior Planning Manager is responsible for the coordination of planning submissions and approvals with local Councils and other Statutory Bodies, primarily for station sites.

  • Coordination of documentation from initial concept and design stages through to Planning Approval 
  • Ensure the design complies with legislative, regulatory and authority requirements. 
  • Attend pre-lodgement meetings with the council as required
  • Liaise with authorities for approval of design-related matters and/or documentation where appropriate.
  • Assess planning applications and monitor outcomes as necessary.
  • Liaise with the internal design team to ensure that the plans are lodged in accordance with the latest United specifications and all equipment/plant requirements are included and considered in Planning Documentation.
  • Manage consultants to ensure project timelines are maintained
  • Coordinate with United legal team as required for legal matters relating to planning lodgements and outcomes
  • Complete planning Due Diligence for potential acquisitions
  • Provide general planning advice for United senior management as required


Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of planning policies and regulations- Planning background desirable but not a key requirement
  • A background in property and development – architecture, development & construction is desirable
  • Skilled at managing a number of consultants and jobs in a timely manner
  • Good communicator – both internally and with external parties
  • Good negotiation skills – adept at achieving a successful outcome
  • Proactive - ability to achieve the right outcome by strategic thought
  • Assertive – someone who is confident and has the ability to represent United in external forums eg. Council meetings 
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work and complexity in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in large scale developments with an understanding of feasibility studies and the challenges surrounding mixed-use developments
