Membership and Sponsorship Officer

GEMS Event Management Australia is looking for a Membership Officer to join our team on a permanent part time basis. We are a small Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) located in Five Dock, with a portfolio of three Non-for-Profit Industry Association Clients. As Membership Officer dedicated to one of our clients, Stormwater NSW, you will be responsible for a wide variety of functions that all relate to the membership, predominately driving membership recruitment and initiating association sponsorship. You will be working in conjunction with our Secretariat Manager and the Committee of Stormwater NSW to grow membership of the association.  This role will initially be 8 10 hours per week for a period of 3 months, with the potential for extension. Days, hours and location of work are flexible for the right candidate.

Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Drive membership recruitment and retention activities with a focus on actively recruiting new members for Stormwater NSW
  • Develop strategies and tactics to achieve membership growth and retention KPls
  • Providing outstanding member service, servicing the needs and enquiries of existing members
  • Maintain and utilise the CRM database
  • Processing and managing member requests via multiple channels, including data-entry, and handling phone and email enquiries.
  • Evaluate and propose new membership entitlements or improvements to existing membership procedures
  • Build and develop positive relationships with members, stakeholders and colleagues working as an effective team member, sharing information and providing assistance
  • Participation in committee meetings and undertake regular reporting to both the Secretariat Manager and Client Committees
  • Drive our association sponsorship recruitment process in partnership with the Secretariat Manager and the Association Executive

The successful candidate should have:

  • Results driven mentality
  • Experience within a membership/not-for-profit organisation or a sales environment will be highly regarded
  • Advanced data, reporting and analytical skills
  • The ability to work well within a team environment providing assistance to team members as necessary, as well as the ability to work autonomously
  • Highly developed computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with EventsAir, QuickBooks or WordPress an advantage
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
  • A high level of customer relations skills and experience
  • Professional demeanour, confident, resourceful, organised and result-driven
  • Able to multi-task, work under pressure and achieve deadlines
  • Valid Australian Drivers Licence and own vehicle

Salary Package
