Graduate Process/Product Engineer

The Business and role:

Gulf Rubber Australia Pty Limited (GRA) is a subsidiary company of NZX listed Skellerup Holdings Limited. GRAs core business is the manufacture and distribution of engineered rubber and plastics, and closed cell Polyethylene (PE) and Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam, under the brand Ultralon.

The role of Process/Product Engineer is to support the Technical Manager in managing the overall technical function of the business, aimed towards delivering specific technical business objectives and supporting profitable growth.

The role on offer is a unique opportunity to work in a highly technical diverse business, gaining exposure to a range of industries, products, materials and processes, whilst working closely with a range of stakeholders from Operational staff to Senior Management. The role will support a strong developmental pathway across a broad Engineering scope, as well as a strong understanding of the commercial aspects of the business, and general commercial aptitude.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support Technical Manager in the development of products including Automotive rubber couplings and industrial products.
  • Review production processes and other initiatives to support cost reduction objectives for existing product lines.
  • Support the sales team with product and market analysis
  • Support Sales and Technical Manager in new product development and existing product reviews.
  • Support Customer Service and Sales team on general technical enquiries
  • Training and development on Automotive standards such as IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3, as well as ISO 9001 Quality Standard.
  • Training, development and implementation of LEAN principles.
  • Broad scope of other activities

Skills and competencies required:

  • Proficient Software skills CAD, Solidworks, Microsoft Project, Excel
  • FEM analysis
  • Good understanding of statics and dynamics, clear understanding of vectors and forces
  • Understanding of materials testing and basic principles
  • Good analytical skills such as problem solving
  • Soft skills essential
  • Good comprehension, strong verbal and written communication.
  • Positive, team player approach

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer
  • Experience: No specific industry experience required
