St John Ambulance (ACT) Inc. is a volunteer based not-for-profit organisation run entirely for the well-being of the Canberra community. As a registered charity, we are reliant on the proceeds from commercial ventures to fund our humanitarian services. Helping tens of thousands of people across the Territory each year through the delivery of first aid at events staffed by teams of volunteers, to delivering first aid training and products to school children and the vulnerable people in the community. Revenue generated is returned to the community through community programs.
About the Role:
The bookkeeper is an important role within the team at St John Ambulance (ACT) Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Finance Manager with day to day management of the organisations accounts. We have a wonderful and close-knit-team which you will work closely with.
We are seeking a motivated, dynamic individual who is committed to providing exceptional financial support by using your bookkeeping skills.

Mandatory Criteria -
Expert knowledge and experience using of MYOB and or Xero and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and processes
Experience in accounts payable and receivable in an end to end role, including inventory
Strong knowledge in undertaking bank, staff credit cards and petty cash reconciliation
Possess well-developed administrative skills as well as written and oral communication skills
Ability to work effectively with others
Proven capability to problem-solve and think critically as well as willingness to learn and show initiative
A positive, can-do attitude and ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Eligible to work in Australia
Desirable qualities -
Experience working for a not-for-profit organisation or charity
