Property Tax Accountant

This role is principally responsible for the delivery of tax compliance obligations in Australia and capital expenditure reporting.  The role will assist the team in providing timely and accurate tax information to our client, our clients tax agents and auditors. The role will provide monthly updates and reporting to the line manager and the JLL Regional Head of Finance for the client account as relates to meeting the tax deliverables accurately and in a timely manner per client scope of services as relates to tax compliance and capital expenditure.


Your accountabilities will include:

  • Provide accurate and timely taxation compliance and support services.
  • Maintain fixed assets register on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare tax depreciation schedules monthly and deliver to client quarterly.
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet items as relate to capital expenditure, GST, WHT (tax codes).
  • Review the current systems, process and work with the JLL Regional Head of Finance on the client account, to implement any new process and recommend new solutions to improve the accuracy and timeliness of deliverables and sort efficiencies.
  • Review the GST reports for accuracy and submit to client and client tax agents.
  • Provide timely responses to client, tax accountant and auditor queries.
  • Responding to tax RFIs for asset sales (dispositions).
  • Prepare quarterly client reporting as per client reporting timetable and ensure all such reporting is accurate and timely
  • Prepare tax query logs and manage this process with the client and the clients tax agent.
  • Obtain final client approved capital expenditure budget and load into MRI.
  • Maintenance of annual reconciliation of tax payable/receivable and deferred tax balances (if required)
  • Provide internal training as required
  • Ad hoc tasks as required.

  • Accounting/finance degree qualification
  • At least 5 years experience post degree at an intermediate level
  • Strong excel skills
  • Must be organised with ability to escalate timely to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong ability to analyse and problem solve and make effective recommendations
  • Property industry experience preferred but not essential.
  • Experience must include:
    • Accounting principles,
    • BAS preparation and lodgement,
    • Income tax legislation,
    • Preparation and review of tax depreciation schedules,
    • Preparation of cost base and CGT calculations.
