NDT LEVEL 3 (SA)

Full-time or Contract, Senior Management Position, Working on major Defence projects.

Quality Maritime Surveyors (QMS) provide a wide range of commercial surveying, inspection and non-destructive testing services to companies in South Australia.

QMS has an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced NDT Level 3 to join its senior management team. This is a full-time position; however, a contract position may be negotiated. The position will be based at Osborne, South Australia with responsibilities including the management of NDT on major Defence projects. You will also be required to work at other sites in the Adelaide metropolitan area from time to time.

As the NDT Level 3 you must be experienced and capable of establishing techniques and procedures; interpreting codes, standards, and specifications; and designating the particular NDT methods, techniques, and procedures to be used. You must also have knowledge of materials, fabrication, and product technology. The NDT Level 3 will be responsible for training and examining Level I and Level 2 technicians and will have complete responsibility for the management and operations of the QMS NATA laboratory.  You must have good communication skills and be capable of making professional presentations to the senior management of our client base.

The NDT Level 3 will undertake a range of duties including:

  • Management of the QMS NATA Laboratory
  • Ongoing liaison and dialogue with Defence clients
  • Training and management of Level 1 and Level 2 NDT technicians
  • Ensuring the correct NDT processes and techniques are established and utilised in accordance with best practices and client requirements
  • Review suitability of procedures and personnel
  • Interpretation of codes and client specifications
  • Radiographic, Dye Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasound Thickness and Ultrasonic Weld Inspection
  • Management of NDT equipment, consumables and personnel
  • Management reporting
  • Working with management to grow the business and ensure continual improvement of processes and service delivery.

Essential Requirements:

  • AINDT Level 3 Radiography, AINDT Level 3 Magnetic Particle, AINDT Level 3 Ultrasonics and AINDT Level 3 Dye Penetrant
  • Visual Testing Level 2 (desirable)
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 17025 and NATA requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Experience with handling NCRs from auditing and client organisations
  • High level of problem-solving ability
  • Client focussed
  • Previous experience working on large projects
  • Able to work in a confined space
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good communication skills and a team player
  • Understanding of WH&S requirements and responsibilities.
  • A reasonable level of health and fitness
  • A current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance (must be an Australian citizen and no prior convictions)
