About the role 

The aim of this role is to help build awareness of Schools Plus so we can achieve our fundraising goals. Reporting to our Director of Marketing and Communications and working alongside our Donor Relations and Schools teams, you will have insight into all aspects of our work with schools and their supporters so you can tell the stories and present the data that helps to close the education gap for students in need. It is a broad and exciting role that will suit an up-and-coming communications specialist who has skills and experience across PR, communications and marketing, a passion for making a difference to young peoples lives and a desire to build their marketing skillset, especially in digital marketing.

The position is full time, based in Sydney CBD and is available immediately.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create and manage our EDM and social media content, including posting, engagement with followers/audience and analysis of results
  • Create and publish new content on website and contribute to website development
  • Lead the production of our Annual Review, event booklets and handouts, other corporate documents and marketing collateral
  • Help identify and generate media opportunities, including preparing media releases/content, liaison with journalists/bloggers, monitoring education news and keeping records of media coverage
  • Contribute to the development of our communications and marketing strategy, including audience research, market trends and competitive analysis, messaging, campaigns (from creative concept stage to execution) and analysis of results
  • Assist Donor Relations team with donor recruitment and communications including EDMs/sponsorship proposals/grant applications
  • Work with School Relations team to identify opportunities for communications and PR in the education sector, and on stakeholder engagement
  • Help identify and generate marketing/speaking opportunities to attract and retain donors from target audiences
  • Prepare marketing activity reports and metrics for measuring campaign success
  • Assist with events planning and management
  • Further knowledge and education regularly through workshops, research, and seminars, and share best practices, and local marketing ideas and tactics with the team

About the successful applicant

We look forward to meeting you if you have:

  • 3+ years experience as Marketing/Comms/ PR Coordinator or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in traditional, digital, content and social media marketing
  • Experience in executing communications and PR campaigns, including development of creative materials, briefing agencies/suppliers and delivering campaigns to budget
  • Outstanding writing skills in a variety of styles (ie blog, media release, opinion piece, annual review, sponsorship proposal)
  • Experience in managing social media/web content including analysis of metrics
  • Excellent communications, presentation and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) and CRM tools
  • Experience in media liaison, including management of media relationships and a track record of generating positive media coverage, is desirable
  • Strong skills in graphic design software such as InDesign or Canva and the ability to produce simple videos are desirable
  • High level of energy, can-do attitude and collaborative nature. This role requires the ability to work autonomously and prioritise tasks, while operating in a team environment
  • Passion for making a difference for students facing disadvantage. Experience in the not-for-profit sector cation. Applications close on Friday, April 3, 2020.
