An exciting opportunity exists for a committed, highly skilled and qualified Principal Planner to join our Planning Services team at the Town of Cottesloe. We are seeking a highly experienced individual to facilitate and deliver strategic planning services, as well as a proactive and effective people leader to mentor and develop our planning team. This three year contract role is responsible for the coordination, support and delivery of high quality strategic planning services, programs and projects which provide a sound framework for appropriate land use and development in the Town of Cottesloe.
The successful applicant must hold a recognised tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Studies (or equivalent) and must be able to demonstrate significant relevant experience within the Planning field, particularly in policy formulation and implementation, rezoning and Local Planning Schemes. Applicants with minimum of two years experience leading a team of staff in a supervisory or management role will be viewed favourably. To be considered for this position you must also hold a valid c-class drivers licence. Experience in and/or working knowledge of statutory planning is also desirable.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will play a significant role contributing to the success of the planning team at the Town of Cottesloe. You will draw on your project management skills to ensure key objectives of the team are being met, lead a strong team of statutory planning staff, provide strategic planning advice, process strategic planning applications, coordinate the development of strategic plans. This fixed term, full time position is offered subject to the satisfactory completion of a 3 month probationary period. The Town of Cottesloe reserves the right to extend this probation as necessary.
