How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
City of Melbourne Libraries provides services online and from six locations with a focus on the principles of lifelong learning, reading, place, experience and operational excellence.
As the Libraries AV Technician, your primary objective will be to provide high quality audio visual technology support to the users of our Recording Studios and Performance Spaces, and other identified spaces across all facilities incorporating City of Melbourne Libraries.
In addition, you will be responsible for:
Providing a high level of technical advice and support around the use of AV in our spaces in order to meet the needs of room bookers and staff
Ensuring the safe, effective and efficient operations, support, documentation and maintenance of the audio visual technology within the specified spaces
Delivering training to internal staff to facilitate their use and understanding of the equipment/spaces
Positions within the Melbourne Library Service are not fixed at the one location and may be required from time to time to relocate dependant on business needs.

Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
Appropriate technical qualifications and/or equivalent experience in audio engineering and recording studio operation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and good literacy, numeracy, computer literacy and information retrieval skills.
Ability to effectively deal with challenging situations, resolve problems and diffuse potential conflict to deliver optimal outcomes.
High level of competence utilising PC and Mac based audio visual software including the use of ProTools.
Understanding of mixing live music, controlling stage lighting with DMX controls, and communication with venue management.
Proven ability to train staff and the public on equipment.
