About MGD

MGD is a leading Brisbane-based boutique tax and accounting and financial services firm. Based at South Brisbane in architecturally designed offices, MGD provides a suite of specialist advice services to our clients. The integration of core advice disciplines of tax, self-managed superannuation, investment and personal risk are interwoven with our relationships for succession and estate planning, banking, finance and philanthropy. MGD is privately owned and operates under its own Australian Financial Services Licence.

The Role

We are seeking a highly productive and capable individual who will play an integral part within one of our Tax Advisory teams.  The bookkeeper will be responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable, account management, bank reconciliation, processing of payroll and superannuation and generation of monthly management reports for a number of our business services clients.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Recording the financial transactions of a business in bookkeeping software (such as MYOB,XERO or QuickBooks), spreadsheets or databases
  • Reviewing and approving bills and manage rules from Receipt Bank App
  • Arranging payment of supplier invoices and providing remittance advice
  • Preparing and sending invoices and receipts to debtors
  • Processing payroll and maintaining employee records
  • Processing quarterly superannuation payments
  • Carrying out bank reconciliations
  • Reporting for preparation of a Business Activity Statement (BAS)
  • Producing balance sheets, income statements and other financial documents

Skills and Experience:

  • MUST have a minimum of 3 years bookkeeping end to end experience   
  • Suitable for a person who has experience working in the business tax sector  
  • Bookkeeping/Accounting qualification preferred
  • An understanding of GST, Fairwork/Awards and accounting principles
  • Intermediate to advance level of XERO experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills required 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and task prioritisation
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • Experience with MYOB AE, System Release, Xero and other MYOB software
