About the Job
Reporting to the Manager: Procurement, this newly created position will facilitate dialogue with key internal and external stakeholders including industry, Aboriginal-owned businesses, peak bodies and government agencies regarding procurement policies and requirements for the University. In this role you will:
review and make recommendations to strengthen procurement policies, processes, systems and guidelines to assist understanding and support for Aboriginal-owned business to better respond to the University’s procurement requirements
develop and maintain strategic relationships with industry, peak bodies, government and NGOs to understand the needs of Aboriginal-owned businesses and opportunities to ensure equity in the University’s procurement requirements and tendering practices
conduct and/or support supplier negotiations to achieve effective business terms ensuring an optimal outcome for the University
provide an internal consultancy service to professional and academic business areas.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will:
identify as an Australian Aboriginal person and possess a demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting on the provision of services to and workforce considerations for Aboriginal communities
possess tertiary qualifications, or demonstrated significant equivalent commercial or procurement skills, knowledge and experience
demonstrate highly developed verbal and written communications skills including experience in the delivery of presentations and preparation of reports
have experience in providing advice and managing all aspects of complex policy drafting, engagement and implementation.
