Production Manager

The Company

Our client is a highly successful family business with three major operations; (1) their flagship manufacturing site specialising in the manufacture, repair and re-issue of wooden products, their (2) cold storage and warehousing facilities, as well as their (3) boutique saw mill. Due to consistent success, the company is actively aiming to grow their business both organically and through acquisition.

The Role

The company is looking to appoint a highly capable Production Manager to increase performance, quality and safety across the Shepparton manufacturing and repair plant.
It will be the responsibility of the Production Manager to drive, coach and mentor all staff on site (approximately 25 across 2 shifts) to achieve high manufacturing standards in line with business targets. The team consists of Team Leaders, Dispatch Leader, Site Engineer, Administration and Operators. The site has 3 separate buildings which contain a mixture of modern automated technology as well as some manual workstations. The Production Manager will be required to drive manufacturing strategy, set standards, optimise processes, increase capability, productivity, visibility, maintain high product quality, manage operating budgets, introduce governance, embed shop floor metrics and play a key role in safety leadership. This will be achieved through leading continuous improvement programs, maintaining a solution-based focus and driving Lean principles. The position will also perform planning and purchasing for the site.

The Production Manager will display a hands-on and collaborative style, promoting good behaviours and accountability. The right leader will be resilient, strong in character and comfortable to respectfully question and challenge their team and peers. They will have a natural coaching and mentoring style that will empower, influence and increase team and individual capability.

Skills & Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in manufacturing leadership and implementation of continuous improvement strategy, preferably from within an industrial manufacturing environment or similar. 
  • With a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading cross-functional teams across production, maintenance, logistics and planning, the person will be a visible and strong leader with the ability to both be hands on in the plant when required and have a strong commercial acumen in order to set targets, set / manage budgets, perform planning and implement regular review structures.


In return for your capabilities and experience the successful candidate will be offered a salary in the region of $95,000 - $100,000 Base + Super.
