Team Leader - Mechanic

The Role:

Toll are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader Mechanic located in our maintenance division of Toll at our Workshop in Karawatha.

As the Team Leader, your responsibility will be to service & maintain vehicles and equipment from the Toll divisions and any other external companies. This position involves working on all makes and models of trucks and trailers, including Rigid Trucks, Prime Movers and all types of Trailers. Other duties include looking after the general plant of the Workshop.

Additionally, this position encompasses direct responsibility for monitoring processes as they affect quality, health and safety. You will provide the communication link between the Mechanics and the Service Supervisor. As the Team Leader, you will be knowledgeable of the daily running of the Workshop and be capable with filling into the Service Supervisors position as required.

You will be responsible for:

  • All mechanical repairs (diesel & petrol)
  • Auto electrical repairs & hydraulic repairs
  • Maintain adequate written job cards and records as required
  • Welding (oxy, arc & mig)
  • Maintain appropriate standards of housekeeping and safety within the work areas
  • Assist training apprentices as required
  • Ensure major expenditure is reported before commencement
  • Carry out vehicle breakdown duties
  • Available for overtime and call-ins as required
  • Work at different locations as required
  • Ensure work is planned and progressed through the Service Centre to minimise delayed results
  • Ensure high quality customer satisfaction is maintained
  • Vehicle and job sign off completion (inspection/quality)
  • Actively participate in the occupational health and safety programme

Technical

  • Product knowledge and other general technical knowledge + well developed analytical skills
  • Basic computer skills

Business

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Ability to liaise with customers when required
  • Maintain customer focus throughout the operation
  • Well-developed leadership skills

  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
  • Service oriented regarding dealing with clients
