Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the Mine Geologist will support the resource development and ore extraction objectives by developing and implementing best practice methods for grade control and data management emphasising metal reconciliation.
Your choice of an 8/6 or 5/2 Residential or 8/6 DIDO (e.g from Perth or southern surrounds).
We are chasing a Mine Geologist with 3+ years minimum open pit grade control background who is competent with Datamine ideally. Simple as that. 
The role will be offered on an initial fixed term contractual basis of 6-12 months, then all going well & pending performance, become a permanent role. A strategic punt if you will.  
The Gig:

  • Assist with ensuring effective cost control practices are developed and implemented to ensure compliance to budgets.
  • Assist with development, implementation and execution of geological drilling and sampling programmes for grade control, mineral resource extension and infill.
  • Assist with the collection, dispatch, QAQC and reporting of sample and assay data
  • Geological face and bench mapping
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain 3D geological models and routines.
  • Grade control and resource ore body modelling tasks
  • Assist the Senior Mine Geologist in all production geology and grade control tasks, in addition to the management of technicians and drill contractors.
  • Undertake and promote efficient mining and ore blending practises focussing on dilution and loss minimisation.
  • Ensure the accurate collection of production and reconciliation data, undertake regular data audits and promote across-discipline understanding of optimal mine to mill geological practices.
  • Act as a frontline operational liaison with mine planning engineers, pit supervisors, metallurgists and other mining professionals as required, promoting inter-team communication.

Skills & Experiences:

  • A Bachelor of Science (Geol) or related qualification 
  • Proficiency in the software packages such as – Datamine, Leapfrog, GEOVIA, Snowden Supervisor, Microsoft Suite, Datashed database;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in metalliferous open-pit mines
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with generalised mining packages (e.g. Datamine), and production tracking or reconciliation software.
  • Experience with software coding, with Datamine macro experience highly regarded.
