Senior managers are sought for the Business Development Team as part of the Innovation and Commercial Partnerships Branch of the University

The Business Development Team provides a centrally coordinated, but locally delivered, business development function. Our aim is to grow the University’s research and teaching income and to position the University of Adelaide as the ‘partner of choice’ for industry. Our mission is to provide seamless connections between client needs and the resources and the expertise of the University – empowering clients to achieve their goals; expanding the research and teaching base of the University; and adding to the wellbeing and vibrancy of society.
Working for the Business Development Team, but in alignment with Industry Engagement Priority (IEP) Directors and Research Institute and Faculty staff, the Senior Business Development Manager is central to the delivery of our Business Development function. The Senior Business Development Manager will focus on one of three industry sectors – Agriculture, Food and Wine; Defence, Space and Cyber; and Health and Biomedical, will support Schools and Institutes to achieve agreed revenue targets and will develop Strategic Business Development Plans to guide focus, support and resourcing. Working with a high degree of autonomy, professionalism and customer focus, this position will use their influence to support coordinated business development and revenue generation across their IEP sector and Faculty.
To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated ability to generate income from strategic business development.
- A demonstrated interest in supporting researchers to resolve problems to the benefit of industry and the community.
- Established networks and links with industry, relevant government authorities or other relevant external stakeholders and a customer focussed mindset and the ability to build relationships for long term collaboration with demonstrated high level engagement skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of service culture and key account management principles.
- Extensive experience in negotiating commercial contracts including those of a complex nature.
