About the Role
Reporting to the Stores and Inventory Manager, the Casual Stores Officer will be responsible and accountable for providing an efficient and timely supply of stock and non-stock items at the Port of Esperance. The role will include sourcing, procurement, receival and processing, handling, storage, delivery and documentation activities.
 
Key Duties

  • Use Southern Ports inventory and financial management systems for requisitions, procurement, issuing and controlling stock and receivables
  • Maintain and monitor accurate records of stock levels, record any damage or loss of stock
  • Receive, retrieve, shelve and issue stock as required including loading and unloading vehicles
  • Data entry, record keeping and accurately complete and process relevant documentation
  • Develop and maintain procedures for warehousing/storing dangerous goods and/or hazardous substances
  • Follow all regulatory health and safety procedures that apply to Stores

 
Experience and Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar stores, logistics or planning role
  • Basic computer and software skills (i.e. MS Office Suite / Synergy)
  • Practical understanding of occupational health and safety as it relates to the workplace
  • Licenced and competent to operate a forklift
  • Good understanding of supply chain logistics
  • Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent estimating, numeracy and literacy skills

To be eligible for a the role, applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Esperance and provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
 
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
