Sales Manager

The Darwin Turf Club is home to one of the most prestigious sporting events in the Top End, the Great Northern Darwin Cup Carnival.

Silks at Darwin Racing is Darwin Turf Clubs brand-new venue that will operate 7 days a week.  Silks will host Bar and Gaming areas as well as a 200-seat modern bistro dining room.

The position of Sales Manager is responsible for increasing the sales revenue for Silks Darwin (Silks) diverse business streams. This includes corporate and public events & bookings for race day and non-race days as well as sponsorship and membership sales.  The Sales Manager will ensure that a strategic sales plan is implemented to ensure Silks have a strong presence and customer base.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop Sales strategies to include race day ticketing & events, non-race day events, sponsorship & membership.
  • Sourcing and securing new key business partners & sponsors.
  • Retention of existing corporate client base by continuing current relationships.
  • Monitor competition, economic indicators, and industry trends.
  • Analyse sales data on sales results and develop plans to address performance gaps.
  • Monitor competition, economic indicators, and industry trends.
  • Proactively and professionally develop, maintain and manage relationships with key sponsors.
  • Source and secure sponsorship opportunities for Silks Darwin.
  • Provide advanced negotiation expertise.
  • Sourcing and securing new key business partners & sponsors.

What we're looking for: 

  • Proven experience in managing a high-profile business development portfolio.
  • Experience Sales or Business Development
  • Ability to create strong professional client relationships
  • Efficient in Sales Force & SABO is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends and patterns
  • Experience leading a consultative sales process
