Financial Controller - Part-Time

We are currently on the lookout for someone who is committed, proactive and has great interpersonal skills to join our Melbourne CBD Support Crew as a Financial Controller, on a part-time basis for 20-hours per week.  We're pretty flexible and open to these hours being done over 3, 4 or 5 days based on what suits your circumstances. 

Your Mission:

In our small, but growing business, you will be responsible for all aspects of our financial health and compliance.  Youll lead a small team including a Finance Manager, responsible for AR/AP and payroll as well as our Admin Team.  This is very much a hands-on role, suited to someone who enjoys balancing the strategic with the operational.

Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for:

Planning & Budgeting / Funds Management

  • Managing the preparation of the company's annual budget and goal setting process
  • Managing regular profit and loss forecasting process for the business operations (currently quarterly cycle)
  • Managing the cash flow cycle
  • Actively managing overheads whilst seeking out areas for efficiencies for savings 
  • Monitoring banking activities of the organisation

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting including P&L, cashflow statements, Balance Sheets and KPI reports on a monthly basis
  • Ensuring adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available
  • Interpreting the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities
  • Business modelling to evaluate development opportunities

Compliance

  • Meeting all compliance requirements including ATO (IAS, BAS, FBT, ITR) and ASIC
  • Managing annual tax return process including R&D application
  • Producing statutory accounts as needed
  • Managing relationships with external accountants/tax advisers, brokers, bankers and any other parties
  • Holding appropriate insurances for Ward Health Group

Team & Leadership

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement across finance and admin functions and implement change management strategies
  • Effectively onboarding, managing, motivating, supporting and developing the Finance Manager & ensure the same for the Admin team
  • Preparing Board presentations/packs and representing the Finance function at board level as required
  • Leading staff communications related to financial matters

  • Advanced excel skills for forecasting/cash flow and business modelling

Your education & experience

Education:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CA equivalent.

Experience:

  • An experienced Finance Manager or Controller
  • 5 + years financial and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of a company with at least 30 employees
  • Experience in health ideal but not essential
