The Institute is looking to recruit an entry-level Events Officer
This is a multi-tasking role, where on any given day, many events may be on the radar of the events officer and their work colleagues: the events manager, and events administrative support person.
This role would suit a suitably qualified, well rounded, capable person who has a genuine and demonstrated interest in event & project management and wants to build a career in the field.
The role will expose the ideal candidate to the full diversity of activities within an events management program, and to succeed you will need to be a genuine multi-tasker, managing multiple events at different stages of their development, at any given time.
The Events Officer will work on upcoming local and national events, conferences and training programs. Using creative flair, the focus will be to work alongside the Events Manager to develop, project manage and implement a successful national events program.
The candidate should possess excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as the ability to work autonomously, show initiative and meet strict deadlines.
The role requires a diverse skill set. The incumbent must be capable of dealing with a wide range of issues and people, while managing a number of tasks concurrently.
Work alongside the Events Manger to facilitate and administer the national events calendar (including, but not limited to, speaker tours, workshops, Conferences, Seminars, Awards), and be responsible for supporting the implementing those activities;
Work with SIA Branch Committee members to coordinate venues, caterers, speaker agencies, travel requirements, media and any other suppliers required for the successful implementation of events & conferences;
Assist in the scheduling of meetings and online events registration portals;
Work alongside the Events Manager and Branch Committees, to assist in the promotion, development & delivery of five State conferences;
Provide onsite support for the National Conference and various branch events as needed;
Provide customer service to SIA members, event participants and other clients or SIA stakeholders;
Manage the implementation and coordination of SIA's annual webinar program.
Assist in promoting member events through the creation and distribution of dedicated promotional email campaigns
Monitor the SIA's event inbox and respond to enquiries in a timely manner.
This position is a full-time role; 38 hours per week. During our national conference and occasional other events, the events officer may be required to travel, and work additional time-in-lieu.
- Formal qualifications in event management, public relations, communications, marketing or a related field.
- Work experience which demonstrates high level attention to detail, organisation skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong written and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work as part of a small team, which requires initiative, proactivity and ability to work autonomously when required;
- Punctuality and a strong work ethic
- Prior knowledge or experience in updating websites or working with databases would be highly desirable.
