Business Manager, Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre
The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre is an independent economic and social research organisation located within the Curtin Business School at Curtin University. The Centre was established in 2012 through the generous support of Bankwest. The Centre’s core mission is to deliver high quality, accessible research that enhances our understanding of key economic and social issues that contribute to the wellbeing of West Australian families, businesses and communities. Your new role We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manager to run all of the business functions of the centre, and support the Centre’s leadership team with business and strategy development, resource planning and allocation, and partner management. This position holds significant responsibility within the Centre and the incumbent is expected to demonstrate management skills and leadership.
Provide advice and support to the Director and Head of Research Impact and Engagement in developing and reviewing the Centre’s strategic and operational plans.
In consultation with the Director and Head of Research Impact and Engagement, manage the day to day operations of the Centre.
Provide leadership, guidance and management to professional staff.
Managing resources and activities to ensure projects are planned and completed to client expectations, and that the centre fulfils its research targets and financial objectives.
Developing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and business modelling and reporting.
Manage all reporting obligations of the Centre.
Developing and maintaining relationships and commercial opportunities with external partners, through effective communications and events.
Provide advice and support to the Director, Head of Research Impact and Engagement and Centre staff on operational and regulatory matters pertaining to research.
Ensure effective communication, both within the Centre and across the Centre’s key internal and external stakeholders and partners.

You will bring to the role
Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience in business management within a complex organisation; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training.
Considerable experience in business planning through detailed research and analysis on a range of issues and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate business improvement strategies.
Strong understanding of financial and budget management.
High level communication and negotiation skills and the ability to anticipate partner concerns.
Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and influence others.
Build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners.
Understanding of University Research Centres and familiarity with Australian Research Council standards is advantageous.
