The Lowy Institute is seeking a full-time Receptionist/Events Assistant. This role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the reception area, greeting guests and managing meeting arrangements, providing a high level of customer service. You will be the first point of contact for many of the Institutes high-profile visitors and assist with Institutes busy schedule of events. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a small and supportive operations team.
The Lowy Institute is an independent, nonpartisan international policy think tank located in Sydney, Australia. The Institute hosts speeches by leading national and international figures and holds events and conferences to discuss key global issues. It aims to deepen the international policy debate in Australia and to give Australia a greater voice on the international stage.
Duties include: Greeting visitors, answering and directing incoming calls, managing presentation of the reception area, maintaining meeting rooms and organising drinks and catering, assisting with the set-up of public events and roundtables, managing the reception emails inbox, and general ad-hoc administrative duties in support of the Lowy Institute.
The successful candidate will require:
Exceptional attitude, excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
At least 1-2 years reception or event assistant experience
The ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
High attention to detail
Ability to work well under pressure
Proactive and friendly team player
Efficient and competent in Microsoft Office suite
Desirable: knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM; an interest in global politics/international affairs.
