Communications and Camapigns Officer

Are you passionate about building a better world for older Australians We are and were looking for a new team member to help deepen our member and supporter engagement. Older Australians in particular are encouraged to apply.


We are looking for someone who can develop and manage a new supporter and member engagement program for COTA. We want to inspire our existing members to take action and campaign around issues that are important to them. You would be leading digital campaigns, supporter attention and recruitment programs, and supporting this member engagement work with high quality and comprehensive social media and communications content.

As an experienced campaigns/communications professional, with strong practical IT skills and an understanding of the changing trends in digital mobilisation, youll be looking to make this new role your own.

Your role will be responsible for the growth of owned media, the development of campaign strategies, the execution of day-to-day communication with COTA members and supporters (via the organisations website, social media channels, e-Newsletters), the building, rollout and evaluation of digital campaigns and will provide oversight of COTA Australias IT systems.

You will be supported in your role by an external agency who provide a focus on earned media in mainstream and industry media. You will work collaboratively with COTA Australia management and other staff to ensure their knowledge and experience of specific policies contribute to accurate, high quality communications. From time to time your role will collaborate with partner and member organisations.

COTA Australia is the national consumer peak body for older Australians. Its members include State and Territory COTAs (Councils on the Ageing) in each of the eight States and Territories of Australia. COTA Australia and the State and Territory COTAs have around 40,000 individual members and supporters and more than 1,000 seniors organisation members, which jointly directly represent over 500,000 older Australians.

COTA Australias focus is on national policy issues from the perspective of all older Australians as citizens and consumers and we seek to promote, improve and protect the circumstances and wellbeing of older people in Australia. Information about, and the views of, our constituents and members are gathered through a wide variety of consultative and engagement mechanisms and processes.
