Assistant Accountant - 12-month full time contract maternity cover

Our objective is to grow the market for forest and wood products, increase productivity and profitability across the value chain and ensure positive environmental and social outcomes.

 We are based in Melbourne CBD, close to public transport.

Position Overview

We pride ourselves with the best performing finance team  with 100% year end audit approval and nil audit finding. Are you a person with excellent attention to detail and high accuracy to maintain our high standard of error free and on time financial reporting. 

This position is a pivotal role to support in the financial and accounting functions of the company. The Assistant Accountant reports to the Business Manager. 

We require a Full Time person to join our team on a 12-month contract maternity leave position to start in May/June 2021 for hand-over.

Task and responsibilities

  • Responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts
  • Month end processing and assist the Business Manager to prepare monthly financial report to the Board
  • Monthly and quarterly ATO return lodgement
  • Assist the Business Manager in preparation of the annual report, budget, forecast and maintain healthy cashflow
  • Assist the Business Manager in preparation of meetings paper
  • Assist the Business Manager in preparation for both internal and external audits
  • Provide financial information to program managers as required
  • Assist the Business Manager with other duties relating to accounting and human resources as required

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Assistant Accountant
  • Accounting Degree or equivalent
  • Experience with Attach is preferred, but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy to maintain our high standard of error free and on time financial reporting
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
