P&C Operations Manager (Part Time)

The Currumbin State School Parent and Citizens (P&C) Association is looking for a bubbly and enthusiastic Operations Manager to oversee the daily running of their core business activities and fundraising initiatives.

This position is permanent part time 25 hours per week spread over 5 days with possible flex up of hours over busy periods.

About the P&C Association:

Currumbin State School has enrolments of over 1,100 students. The P&C provides services to the school community (students and parents) in the form of Tuckshop, Uniform Shop, Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) and Swim Club (swimming lessons and squad) in addition to fundraising initiatives to further support the school needs. The P&C currently employees over 20 staff and runs all businesses on a profitable basis with surplus (profit) being reinvested back into the school to support agreed initiatives as decided by the P&C Association's Committee and school principal.

Your Role
Reporting to the P&C Executive (volunteer positions) you will have following responsibilities:

  • Manage all business units of the P&C Association and be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of these businesses;
  • Business Development to grow the income from P&C operations and events through improving the current offering and implementing improvements and changes;
  • Human Resources responsibility for all P&C staff; 
  • Accounts together with the Bookkeeper be responsible for the P&C Payroll, Accounts Payable, cash collection, banking, and annual operating budget;
  • Marketing and promotion actively promote P&C activities and contribution within the school including such things as managing social media, presenting at information sessions and student assemblys, managing sponsorship opportunities and fostering and encouraging volunteers;
  • Project management 
  • General administration 

To be successful in this position, you will have the following attributes:

  • Proven ability to manage successful teams including experience with recruitment, staff support and training;
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing new initiatives to support business growth; 
  • Demonstrated strong organisational and administration skills including the ability to manage a varied workload and achieve outcomes in a busy environment;
  • Demonstrated experience managing internal and external communications, public relations and/or marketing functions;
  • Understanding of P&C governance and compliance philosophies, policy and management practices;
  • Interpretation and application of legislation to an organisational context, identify potential impacts and make appropriate recommendations for change to policy and/or procedures;
  • Excellent personal communication skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels;
  • Sound financial management skills;
  • Sound information technology (IT) and project management skills:
  • Proven problem-solving and time management skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions within the governance framework;
  • The ability to respond and resolve queries outside of normal working hours, as needed (such as reviewing rosters due to staff absenteeism);
  • All employees working in the school environment need a Blue Card. The successful applicant will need to be able to achieve a positive Blue Card notice (we will help with the application process);
  • A successful criminal history check will be initiated on the successful applicant;
