Operations Director

Key leadership role, $250,000 (package) circa, Professional fluency in Mandarin Chinese a must.

Due to outstanding leadership in the business there is now an opportunity for a commercially savvy Operations Director to steer their next chapter of success.

The Role

This strategic leadership role will report directly into the CEO and oversee Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality and Warehousing & Distribution. With Directors both local and abroad, a high proficiency in communicating at board level in Chinese Mandarin is a must. You will lead all Australian Operations and develop a commercial strategy to successfully lead through planned expansion in a competitive market. The role will focus on developing and implementing the manufacturing strategy which includes managing all operations in an efficient, cost effective and safe manner; controlling supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance (includes capital projects), and most importantly striving to continuously improve, drive, coach and mentor production staff to achieve world class manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of support services, through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and operational functions.
  • Project manage a highly complex move of both manufacturing and head office relation to ensure smooth transition.
  • Play a significant role in long-term planning, with the view to delivering operational excellence.
  • Implement effective succession planning, people management, development, recruitment, and retention strategies.
  • Oversee overall operational management, planning, systems and controls.
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organisation's financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals.
  • Implement and assist in the development, review and maintenance of various policies including Health and Safety, Security and Environmental.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualified in Management, Supply Chain, and Project Management. 
  • Manufacturing, Engineering or a related discipline with a successful track record in FMCG leadership and implementation of continuous improvement strategy. 
  • Preferable experience from pharmaceuticals and or complimentary medicine environments.
  • Minimum 15 years Management experience with strengths across manufacturing strategy, project management change management and modern LEAN philosophies. 
  • Significant demonstrable experience of successful implementation of change management and LEAN manufacturing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, commercially astute and reporting skills at all levels required with a key ability to identify and develop business opportunities by thinking and communicating strategically.
