 About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer for our Rutherford workshop with knowledge of a wide range of light and heavy vehicles associated to the transport, automotive and mining industry.

This role is critical to the daily functions of the business. You will be supporting the Service Manager and Mechanics assisting with the sourcing and supply of a vast array of parts and accessories to internal and external customers to help us fulfill our commitments. You will be required to identify the make, model and variations of light and heavy vehicles and automotive equipment, check catalogues or computer databases to identify and locate the source of required parts, order parts from external suppliers and calculate tax, discounts and retail prices.

Key Duties

  • Efficient and effective skills at parts interpreting
  • Proactive customer service attitude and skills, with urgency and empathy in problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to receive and action parts enquiries
  • Ability to seek quotes and availability in a timely manner
  • Process requisitions and delivery documents, allocate and price parts for workshop quotes and retail invoicing
  • Participate and engage with supervisors and management in sourcing, stock control, auditing and stock-taking
  • An organised approach to both administration and hands-on parts interpretation work and duties
  • Be able to work quickly and consistently under pressure
  • Knowledge in light and heavy vehicles, their parts and their functions

 

The key team member we are looking for needs to have:

  • Demonstrated background in the automotive/spare parts industry
  • Experience with heavy/on road vehicles, mining and general automotive knowledge
  • A current drivers licence
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to multitask and prioritise work loads
  • Work well under pressure
  • Good computer skills and phone manner
