About the role
If you're an aspiring Senior / Lead Civil Engineer looking to step up into a leadership role then this is the career opportunity for you. Due to a strong pipeline of work in the QLD region, we are currently seeking engineers with exposure to the transport infrastructure space. Reporting to the QLD Manager the purpose of this role is to provide engineering capability to our project team including managing risk on proposals and projects. This position provides technical expertise across the civil/roads/rail and urban development projects and includes involvement in the development of proposals and managing junior staff.
You should be an experienced qualified and registered Engineer in the roads sector, with experience in leading teams and providing technical leadership across roads and civil projects. Good communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
Business Development 50%, High-level customer relationship management role
Project Delivery, Design and Planning 30%
Business Governance & Staff Management 20%
Securing revenue through business development activities.
Provide high-quality client service delivery in relation to outputs produced for both internal and external clients in accordance with the quality technical standards.
Evaluate opportunities for improved efficiencies and effectiveness including identifying, developing and implementing standards, systems, tools, and processes to support continuous improvement within the organisation and apply agreed improvements to future projects/work.
Help solve client/project teams problems by lateral thinking and creating innovative solutions. Consult with colleagues to ensure the best ideas are captured.
Effective strategic planning and management of the functional area
Achieve sustainable growth of the business through targeted client relationship management (CRM) and business development (BD) activity
Provide project governance, at the project director or project management level, of projects in the functional area to achieve reliable project performance in terms of sophistication, timeliness and quality.
Delivery of projects to meet financial and technical requirements.
Ensure tender submissions are of high quality and review and recommend the pricing strategy

To be successful:
Lead team with sound technical delivery experience: (ie ex Project Manager / Construction Manager / Senior Engineer or similar as there is a high degree of constructability in the service offering to ensure their advice is robust.
Must be RPEQ registered.
Must be able to manage concurrent project assignments ie multi-task and operate across concurrent clients and deadlines
Must have detailed civil infrastructure experience with a proven background in transport infrastructure projects or urban infrastructure experience. (Earthworks, Road, Stormwater, Water and Sewer)
The candidate should be comfortable with client interface, verbal and written communication.
Cultural fit is key: Team player / Good leader with high emotional intelligence
Ideally a minimum of 10-15+ years infrastructure experience in both consultancy and contractor environment.
Formal civil engineering qualification preferred
